Evaluation of Thin Layer Models for Simulating Drying Kinetics of Black Nightshade Seeds in a Solar-Exhaust Gas Greenhouse Dryer

The current study aimed to use, besides solar, waste heat from exhaust gas of a diesel engine operated for milling grain, dry black nightshade seeds. Assessment thin layer models simulating drying kinetics seeds was performed in solar-exhaust greenhouse dryer on solar; gas; and modes. In solar mode, took 11 hours reach final moisture content 7.13% (db) an initial one 89.34% (db). mode were dried 92.57% 6.07% 10 hours. it 14 88.84% 9.42% Newton, Page, Logarithmic, Henderson Pabis fitted experimental data the best model selected based low root mean squared error (RMSE) interpretation residual plots. To explain prediction seeds, lowest value RMSE, Page found suitable with RMSE 0.01147206, Logarithmic both modes 0.0172098 0.02315325 respectively. conclusion, modeling approach can be used provide design dryer.
